Control the Eccentric
Most people only think about lifting the weight. The better reps are usually decided on the way down.
If you rush the eccentric, you lose position, lose tension, and make the next part of the rep harder than it needs to be. If you control it, you stay balanced, keep the pattern clean, and give the exercise a better chance to do its job.
That does not mean every rep needs a slow-motion descent. It means you should own the lowering phase instead of letting gravity take over.
Control the eccentric first. Cleaner reps will follow.
